Dry conditions worsen as Gu’ rains delayed across Somalia!!!!

According UNOCHA’s Drought Report in Somalia: Abnormal dryness leads to drought-like conditions .

Signicantly drier and hotter-than-normal conditions prevailed across the country during March, with the northern areas of Somaliland and Puntland particularly aected. The 2018 Deyr rains (October – December) have proven insucient to sustain pasture through the harsh, windy weather of early 2019, leading to mild-moderate drought conditions across Somalia. The lack of water has manifested itself through hiked market prices and the scrutinization of available water sources, for functionality. In response, partners and government authorities have begun earlier-than-normal water trucking in many areas.

Lack! of Clean Water Caused the death of Two Person in Mudiye and Qorahad Villages of Puntland’s Gardafuu Region!.

Mudiye and Qorahad villages of Gardafuu region, there is a shortage of Clean Water that effected the lives of some communities especially those displaced from rural areas and pastoralists those lost their animals due to the effect of Sima drought.

Most of that communities have no access of clean water or they can’t buy the amount of water they normally require, that resulted the death and loss of human life due to the water related diseases (Cholera) as confirmed by the Regional health team and the local communities. “We need urgently aid of water from the humanitarian organizations and governmental agencies to save the human lives”, of the Mudiye village residents told to Somali EPO.

Prolonged droughts and the absence of Dayr rains have left water catchments to dry and remain empty, water is brought from long distance places that takes half a day to reach one of these villages which caused a 200littres cherican to reach $35 – 40 dollars which is difficulty in most communities to buy and get clean water.

Most communities in these villages are requesting from Humanitarian organizations, International NGOs and governmental agencies to bring water and to save the lives those potentially may loss due to the lack of water.
