Signicantly drier and hotter-than-normal conditions prevailed across the country during March, with the northern areas of Somaliland and Puntland particularly aected. The 2018 Deyr rains (October – December) have proven insucient to sustain pasture through the harsh, windy weather of early 2019, leading to mild-moderate drought conditions across Somalia. The lack of water has manifested itself through hiked market prices and the scrutinization of available water sources, for functionality. In response, partners and government authorities have begun earlier-than-normal water trucking in many areas.
